Shunde Foshan Furniture Markets: The Largest in China

Guangdong furniture contributes to one-quarter of China’s total furniture exports. The main Guangdong furniture wholesale markets are concentrated in Lecong and Longjiang towns, Shunde District, Foshan City, which account for 50% of Guangdong’s total furniture export value.

Lecong town focuses on furniture showrooms and malls, while Longjiang town is home to furniture factories.

Lecong International Furnishing City

This is the largest furniture market in China, combining wholesale, retail, and exhibition spaces. Lecong furniture markets stretch over 10 miles and cover more than 3 million square meters, with 5 popular furniture malls such as Louvre International Furniture Exhibition Center, Sunlink Furniture City, etc. You can find every type, style, and price of furniture here.

Longjiang furniture factory clusters

Many stores in Lecong have factories located nearby in Longjiang town—China’s largest furniture production base. Here, most factories are self-built multi-story buildings, with different floors for materials storage, production, and showrooms. Some are located within industrial parks. Due to lower rental and operational costs compared to Lecong, furniture prices are generally lower. However, even with so-called “factory prices,” you can still negotiate, and it’s common to get up to 20% off.

Besides Foshan, Guangzhou and Dongguan are two other popular furniture wholesale markets in Guangdong.

  • Guangzhou furniture markets are mainly located in Panyu and Baiyun districts.
  • Dongguan furniture markets are concentrated in Houjie Town, which is especially known for high-end and export furniture.

What to look out for when buying from China's furniture wholesale markets?

Besides language barriers or transportation issues, you should also pay close attention to the following key points.

Big price differences and material quality

For the same type of furniture, you may find prices vary significantly between stores. For example, a similar sofa could be priced from $280 to $2,800. The main reason is the large cost difference in materials and craftsmanship.

Take a 4-meter sofa as an example—the price difference between a full leather sofa and a partial leather sofa (only the contact surfaces) can be over $1,000. Additionally, for filling materials like foam, factors such as its density and whether it’s one-piece molded can affect both the price and comfort. Sitting on it, if it feels comfortable and you can get up easily, there’s a 90% chance it’s a good sofa.

Some sellers raising quotes for inexperienced buyers

Frankly speaking, some sellers may hike up the price if they think you’re a beginner not familiar with furniture and markets, sometimes even several times higher. Experienced purchasers know furniture well and will negotiate the price down.

My advice is to visit as many stores as possible, feel the comfort, and compare quality and prices. After visiting a few dozen, you’ll have a good sense of the reasonable price range for your desired furniture, and you’ll also understand the materials better.

Going to the factory and confirming details before purchasing

For the furniture you are satisfied with, ask the seller to take you to their factory to check out the production workshop and environment. If the seller keeps making excuses to stop you from visiting, be cautious, as there’s a high chance that the final product may not match the promised materials and quality.

Before placing an order, confirm the exact furniture dimensions and materials, and make sure it’s written in the contract to avoid disputes.
