Most sourced types of tool boxes
Plastic tool box
Typically made of PP or PE, lightweight, portable, and affordable. A small plastic toolbox (360×170×190mm) in stock costs around $2.8.
Inserts are commonly made of EVA or PE/EPE foam to hold and protect tools. DIY grid foam is also popular, as it can be torn by hand to fit different tools. For mid-sized boxes, grid foam costs around $2.
Custom logos are most common: silkscreen, laser, or sticker labels.
Some clients request structural changes, which require molding fees, usually starting at $3,000. We’ll provide a full project estimate for your reference.

Metal tool box
Metal tool boxes are ideal for heavy tools and frequent use.
Sheet metal toolbox: finished with powder coating or painting (complies with EU/US standards), rust-resistant and durable. Common in workshops and construction sites, and affordable.

Aluminum toolbox: aluminum frame + laminated plywood/MDF panels. Lightweight yet sturdy, with a high-end look for hardware, cameras, or trade show displays. Costs more than sheet metal.
- Example: lockable empty case (aluminum frame + ABS laminated MDF), 400×280×139mm, around $9–10/pc.

Wooden tool box
Compared with plastic and metal, wooden tool boxes are more niche. They are better suited for light tools, mainly in indoor settings where the boxes don’t need to be moved often. Typical uses include small craft or DIY cases (some closer to a gift box) and fixed cabinets in workshops.

Tool chest / cabinets
Some factory workshops, auto repair shops, laboratories, and studios source tool chests from us. These multi-drawer cabinets are usually made of steel, lockable, and often come with wheels, cabinet doors, or shelves.
A 2-drawer rolling cart is around $100, while a 7–8-drawer cabinet can be about $200. Prices vary depending on drawer count, style, size, and more.
Tool chests and cabinets are usually packed in wooden crates or on wooden pallets for safe shipping.

What’s your MOQ?
For tool boxes and chest available in stock, there’s basically no MOQ.
Simple customization on existing tool boxes—such as inserts, logos, or packagin—requires an MOQ of around 300–500 pcs per design.
Complex customization with new molds:
- Plastic tool boxes: high MOQ, usually 1,000–2,000 pcs/design.
- Metal tool boxes: lower than plastic, starting from a few hundred pcs/design.
What about sample costs?
If factories have stock, small tool boxes worth only a few dollars are usually free, you just cover the shipping. Higher-value items like tool carts may require a sample fee, refundable with order.
Custom logos on existing items:
- Portable hand-carry tool boxes usually cost a few dozen dollars per sample.
- Tool carts or cabinets start from $100+.
