Global textiles look to China, and China looks to Keqiao. For example, at the 2024 Paris Olympics, it’s not just the Chinese team — even the Canadian team’s entire apparel prints are from Keqiao. Today’s blog will introduce Keqiao and textile markets.
What is Keqiao famous for?
Keqiao is famous as China Textile City, the biggest textile market in China and Asia. It’s a district of Shaoxing City in Zhejiang industrial province, situated in the southern golden zone of the Yangtze River Delta industrial clusters.
With daily traffic of over 100,000 people, Keqiao produces a quarter of the world’s fabrics each year. It’s a global hub for textiles! Most of the textiles are delivered through Ningbo-Zhoushan Port and Shanghai Port. There’s also the China-Europe Freight Train (Keqiao), which departs directly from Keqiao, passing through multiple countries and regions along the Belt and Road initiative.
Keqiao’s textile market offers over 50,000 types of fabrics, from the common to high-tech, functional textiles. Whether it’s for down jackets, outdoor jackets, shoes, hats, luggage, or home textiles like bedding, curtains, and carpets — whatever you need, Keqiao has it!
Keqiao is home to over 150,000 businesses and entrepreneurs engaged in the entire textile supply chain — from silk to fabric to finished garments. The booming textile industry here has also fueled the dyeing and printing sector, which accounts for 40% of China’s total capacity.

Who sources in Keqiao and what’s their business?
Nearly 60% of Keqiao’s fabrics and cloth are exported to countries along the Belt and Road initiative. Most are developing countries like the Philippines, India, the Middle East, and Africa, along with some developed nations like South Korea.
Most buyers are experienced and run offline businesses. Some of them learned about China Textile City through the Canton Fair and visit Keqiao textile markets to optimize their existing supply chains.
Some are based in Keqiao. It’s common to see Indian and Arabic restaurants and shops along the streets of Keqiao, and Koreans have even established their own church and international school. These foreign businesses based in Keqiao often visit textile markets and “Keqiao Foreigner Bazaar 柯桥外商集市” to stay updated on fabric market trends and gather product information.
Keqiao Foreigner Bazaar (柯桥外商集市): foreign businesses set up stalls at the bazaar with fabric samples and display their purchasing needs on blackboards. Then, Keqiao fabric suppliers selectively approach them for discussions.
